As a competitive athlete, I have suffered many different injuries (e.g. to my foot, knee, elbow). The team at Orthopädie am Rhy has always looked after me competently and given me the best treatment possible in function of my competition schedule. Almost 10 years ago I fell on a hard stone floor, landing on my left shoulder. I was in severe pain and went to the specialist Dr Christian Mauch at Orthopädie am Rhy in Basel. My shoulder joint was so badly damaged that all that could help me was a reverse shoulder prosthesis. I quickly recovered from the operation. However, a year later I fell on the other side. I needed the same operation again. Now I have a reverse prosthesis in both shoulders. I have as much mobility in the joints now as I had before the falls. Prior to the first operation, I was told that I would not regain full mobility in my arm with an inverted prosthesis. However, Dr Christian Mauch performed both operations with considerable skill, so that even after several years I still have full mobility in my arms, as if I still had my natural joints.

My wife had two hand operations at the Orthopädie am Rhy practice. The practice is very pleasant and well organised. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. Dr Eisenbarth has outstanding professional expertise. We are very grateful for his excellent work, particularly with the second problem, a complex compound fracture of the forearm. The result was surprisingly good. Our heartfelt thanks! 

I had severe osteoarthritis in a number of joints. When physiotherapy and injections were no longer having any effect, Doctor Mauch operated on my right shoulder and knee, and Doctor Helfrich on my left hip. I had artificial joints fitted. Since then my joints have been doing very well and I am no longer in pain. Doctor Mauch has also been able to help me with my left knee. After a knee replacement ten years ago and three other operations (all performed elsewhere), I was in severe pain for years. Since Doctor Mauch's operation in October 2019, I have finally been free of pain again after many years.

In the past I have been to the OAR because of severe shoulder problems and a torn meniscus. As a professional musician, I couldn't afford to take time off for shoulder pain and I really wanted to avoid having an operation. During our first consultation I had the feeling that my personal concerns were being taken seriously and that Dr Kilger worked together with me to come up with a treatment plan which was individually adapted to my needs. We were able to avoid shoulder surgery and I did not miss any work, which was a great relief. Among other things, I was given ACP autologous blood therapy, which was then also used for my torn meniscus. We were once more able to avoid an operation and I could once more fully pursue my favourite hobby, marathon running. Thank you OAR!

I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the excellent treatment since May 2019. Since I don’t have a Google account and don’t want to open one, I chose this route. I’m giving you the maximum rating for everything.

In September 2018, Prof. Dr Kilger gave a lecture in Rheinfelden, where he talked about new methods in knee prosthetics. I found the method convincing, so I finally made up my mind that I needed a new knee after 6 years. The operation went smoothly. I was really well taken care of, so I felt very secure when I was allowed to get up after 24 hours. During two weeks in rehab I diligently did all the suggested exercises and after three days I went for a walk in the park. I was at home three weeks after the operation – where I live alone. At home I could still run my household independently. After two months I was able to enjoy a hike in Zermatt and after five months I managed to complete an 18 km hike in the Bernese Oberland without any problems. I'm 80 years old, and thanks to the surgery I've gone back to playing tennis, swimming, and going to the gym every week.

I wish everyone who decides to have a knee replacement as much success as I have had.

I have been a patient of Dr Moritz Dau for many years. I am a Swiss Red Cross (SRK) nursing assistant and have worked as a medical practice assistant, so I am very familiar with the medical field. During the entire treatment period, I found Dr Dau to be a very experienced and competent doctor who always responds to the needs of the patients and offers assistance. Dr Dau always has an open ear and takes time for his patients. He not only tries to get the pain under control with painkillers but is also ready to use natural remedies, such as autologous blood therapy, which in my case has led to satisfactory results. I can heartily recommend Dr Dau. I would always go to him for treatment myself, because I trust him completely and unreservedly and he is one of the top specialists in his field. I have only experienced Dr Eisenbarth's work, which has been consistently positive. Dr Eisenbarth was the 4th doctor I had been to and the first to make me feel like a patient, and one who was genuinely in pain. I was taken seriously and my problems were not dismissed as fantasies. There was no trial and error. Instead, a solution was sought. So "simple" and so human. I would recommend this doctor to anyone who is looking for a solution-oriented and down-to-earth person. 100% is almost impossible when people are involved, however the team around Dr Eisenbarth and he himself come very close to this ideal.
